Good afternoon. We are looking for a more meaningful "Open House" for members of our learning community...we'd appreciate any ideas that you all may have.
We have developed ours into a campus tour in which we have our student leaders escort groups of 10-20 parents/kids to various classrooms in which our Departments "showcase" or present what happens in their subject areas. We have our staff attend this Open House and in return, we skip one Faculty Meeting.
Our teachers have created powerpoints or video clips that introduce their department. We also have our athletics, FFA, and performing arts there. We even had our Independent Study Program attend with their brochures.
Our Jazz Band played before the event this year.
As the Principal, I greet the prospective families in one area. I introduce my co-administrators and we all share one thing that we really like about our school. I then separate the families into the groups and send the students to get them.
I have a form that I give the student guides as helpful hints and can share that if you wish.
